Web Accessibility 101: What It Is and Who We're Building For

This session is a foundational look at digital accessibility: what it actually means, who it affects, and why it matters for the things we build.

We'll start with the basics: what accessibility is, the range of disabilities and situations it covers (visual, auditory, motor, cognitive, and situational), and how many people this actually touches. It's a much larger and more diverse group than most people assume.

We'll also look at why this matters in practice: how inaccessible products exclude real users, and what's at stake for both users and the people building these systems.

This is meant as an entry point. No prior accessibility knowledge needed. If you're new to the topic, or want to build a clearer mental model before diving into specific techniques, this one's for you.
