South African Wine Grand Tasting with the WineMakers at Urban Grape

Details

We are excited to join Wines of South Africa at Urban Grape in DC for a Grand Tasting! Special guests from some of the most renowned regions of South Africa will be pouring some of their favorite wines.

Come sip, learn, and shop more than 15 different wines WITH THE OWNERS AND MAKERS who create them:

🌸Kiara Scott Farmer / BROOKDALE ESTATE: Kiara was appointed sole winemaker at Brookdale Estate in 2019, becoming the youngest head winemaker in South Africa.

🦞🌸Tinashe Nyamudoka / KUMUSHA WINES: From waiter, to head sommelier, to winemaker, Tinashe’s journey is one of ambition and passion.

A personal friend of our meetup group:
🦞🌸Ntsiki Biyela / ASLINA WINES: The first Black winemaker in South Africa, Ntsiki has created award-winning wines that draw on her own deep connection with nature.

🦞Natasha Williams / LELIE VAN SARON: Though her first exposure to wine was in university, Natasha totally fell in love with winemaking and founded Lelie van Saron, a brand that focuses on minimal intervention practices.

🌸Melissa Nelsen / BOTRIVER WINES: A former pilot, Melissa followed her personal love for bubbles and created her first vintage of Méthode Cap Classique in 2008.

🦞Trizanne Barnard / Trizanne SIGNATURE WINES: After studying viticulture and oenology, Trizanne worked harvests in Australia, France, and Portugal before returning to South Africa and launching her namesake brand.

🦞Anthony Hamilton Russell / HAMILTON RUSSELL: After taking over Hamilton Russell Vineyards from his father in 1991, Anthony brought their iconic style from the vineyards of South Africa to the hills of Oregon.

Tasting is open and will be held from 5pm - 8pm. This tasting event is free and RSVP with The Urban Grape is required: reserve your spot today! Discounts on purchases will also be available.
