What we’re about

Why are South Asians having heart attacks in their 30s, 40s, and 50s — even if they’re slim, vegetarian, and active?
Because no one told us what’s different about our bodies.

We created SAHI - South Asian Heart Initiative to change that.

This group is for anyone who wants to:

• Understand their unique heart risk (genetics, diet, stress, and more)
• Learn about life-saving tests every South Asian family should know
• Meet others who care about prevention — and want to protect their parents, siblings, and kids
🔸 This is not just for people with heart problems.
🔸 It’s for anyone who wants to avoid one!

What You Can Expect:

We host easy, informal gatherings:

  • Walk + Talk sessions around events
  • Checklist Sessions (5 tests every Desi should know)
  • Healthy twists on classic Indian meals
  • Talks from South Asian doctors, dietitians, or survivors

This is not a medical lecture group — it’s a community movement built around conversation, culture, and care.
