What we’re about
### 🙏 For Christian, Conservative Mothers
Finding like-minded women in Austin can feel rare — but you’re not alone. This is a monthly women’s circle for Christian, Conservative Mothers to gather during the new moon for connection, encouragement, and rest.
Each month is a potluck, so bring a GF/DF dish and come as you are — whether you’re thriving or just holding on.
We blend grounded Christian faith with beautiful spiritual practices — think moon cycles, energy work, journaling, meditation, barefoot grounding, etc. We’re not chasing trends or vibes — we’re slowing down and reconnecting with nature, our intuition, the rhythm of the earth, and with women who share our values.
If you’ve ever thought, “I love nature and I find value in spiritual and energetic practices — AND I want to stay true to my faith,” this circle is for you.
### 🌑 The History of the Red Tent & New Moon Gatherings
The idea of the Red Tent comes from ancient traditions where women would gather together during their menstrual cycles — which often synced with the new moon — to rest, reflect, and support each other. The concept is inspired in part by the biblical story of Dinah in the Book of Genesis, and was later reimagined in Anita Diamant’s novel The Red Tent, which highlighted a sacred space where women could retreat together in rhythm with nature and their bodies.
In many cultures, the new moon has long been seen as a time of renewal, reflection, and setting intentions — a quiet, inward phase of the lunar cycle. Women would often use this time to connect with their intuition, share stories, seek wisdom from one another, and attune themselves to the natural cycles of life.
These gatherings weren’t just about rest — they were about community, empowerment, and spiritual connection.
While modern Red Tent circles have taken on many forms — some more spiritual or mystical than others — at their core, they represent a return to intentional, sacred community among women.
### ✨ Reclaiming This Tradition — In Our Own Way
In our circle, we honor that ancient rhythm — the desire to slow down, gather with intention, and listen inwardly — while also rooting everything in our Christian faith.
We believe God created rhythms in nature for a reason — and that tuning into those rhythms doesn’t conflict with our beliefs, but rather deepens our connection to the Creator.
Our version of the Red Tent is not about goddess worship or new age beliefs — it’s about embracing the God-given wisdom, beauty, and strength in our womanhood, and holding space for each other with grace, truth, and love.
Let's create something beautiful!
