Automated Speech Recognition with Spark NLP

David Cecchini of John Snow Labs will present online on Automated Speech Recognition with Spark NLP.

Abstract: Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) has become increasingly present in our daily life with the surge of digital assistants and automatic content generation. In this session, attendees will learn about the basics of ASR technology, including the different types of ASR systems, their components, the main applications, and the challenges associated with building them. Through a practical example, attendees will see how to use the open-source tool Spark NLP in Python to convert audio files into text and create captions for the associated video. By the end of the session, attendees will have a better understanding of ASR technology and how it can be applied in practice, as well as practical experience with Spark NLP that they can use to develop their own ASR applications.

Bio: David Cecchini is a Sr Data Scientist at John Snow Labs with focus on NLP applications in the Healthcare, Finance and Legal domains. With a MSc in Statistics (USTB-China) and master's in quantitative finance (Paris 1 - France), he has more than eight years of experience in using NLP solutions in Portuguese, English, and Chinese data.
