South Coast MA UseR Group April Meeting

Details
We are welcoming two guest speakers for our April meeting! Join us April 1st from 4-6 EST to hear talks from Garrick Aden-Buie and Kate Hertweck (details below) and be sure to RSVP to receive zoom meeting details and passcode.
GarrickAden-Buie will be "Sliding in Style"
Abstract: The xaringan package by YiHui Xie lets R users and R Markdown authors easily blend data, text, plots and htmlwidgets into beautiful HTML presentations that look great on the web, in print, and on screens. Together we’ll create a completely customized xaringan slide style with xaringanthemer, a package that lets you quickly create a complete slide theme from only a few color choices. Then we’ll talk about how you can take your slide design one step further with just a little bit of CSS.
Kate Hertweck will be discussing "How do I do this in R? Adjusting support resources for different levels of expertise"
Abstract: The way information is communicated about an R package, or even about R in general, can make or break someone's willingness to continue using it in their own work. Our level of expertise with coding, prior experience using R, and other types of personal characteristics dramatically affect how we interpret support documentation, code examples, and explanations of other topics in R. Let's explore types of learners in the R community, categorize support materials, and discuss how the former affects the ability of users to apply knowledge from the latter. Understanding how to guide each other towards appropriate resources is an important part of building a bigger, more inclusive R community.
