South Coast MA UseR Group March Meeting

Details
We are excited to welcome Josh Cullen as our guest speaker for March! Join us March 3rd from 4-6 EST to learn about Josh's R Shiny app to explore animal telemetry data. Be sure to RSVP to receive zoom meeting details and passcode and check out the description of Josh's talk below!
Abstract: Spatiotemporal data are common throughout the ecological and fisheries sciences, but exploration of these data can be difficult over both space and time simultaneously. However, R Shiny apps are powerful tools that can be used to mitigate such issues, including the compression of time at the expense of space and vice versa. Josh Cullen (postdoc at FSU) will be presenting an interactive web application built using R Shiny to demonstrate a tool for exploring animal movement data over both space and time. This Shiny app provides users with the ability to visualize a time series for a selected variable of interest across multiple individuals simulataneously, while also mapping these tracks in space. Additionally, users can "zoom-in" on a given period of the time series for closer inspection, which will automatically update the tracks shown in the map. Josh will also discuss options for data visualization and filtering within the app, as well as how the app works by walking through the code.
