Every film begins with a creative vision—but bringing that vision to the screen takes preparation, communication, teamwork, and the ability to keep going when the days get long.
Join Betty Bennett for this three-hour workshop following a film crew’s journey through the three acts of production: pre-production, production, and managing mid-show fatigue through wrap.
Drawing on her extensive experience as a script supervisor and filmmaker, Betty will share practical insights into how a production comes together, what crew members need to understand, and how each department contributes to the finished film.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
Act One: Before the Cameras Roll — Pre-Production
Explore why preparation matters, from understanding your contract, responsibilities, and pay to reading the script—whatever your position. Discover how script breakdowns and the production meeting help turn the director’s vision into a workable plan.
Act Two: On Set — Production
Gain a clearer understanding of how people and departments work together once filming begins. Learn why communication, awareness of each person’s role, and attention to safety help a production move forward when questions and unexpected challenges arise.
Act Three: Keeping It Together — Mid-Show Fatigue to Wrap
Explore what happens when long days begin to take their toll. Betty will discuss maintaining focus, supporting fellow crew members, and carrying your responsibilities through the final stages of production and wrap.
You’ll leave with a stronger understanding of the production process and how to approach your place on a film set with greater confidence.
WHO SHOULD TAKE THE THREE ACTS OF PRODUCTION WORKSHOP?
This workshop welcomes anyone who wants to work in the motion picture industry or better understand how a production runs—from preparation through wrap.
It is for emerging directors, independent producers, line producers, unit production managers, first assistant directors, screenwriters, production coordinators, actors, aspiring crew members, film students, recent graduates, film faculty, and educators.
Beginners are welcome, as are seasoned professionals looking for a refresher or a broader understanding of the production process.
Whether you are preparing for your first day on set or bringing years of experience, you’ll explore how scripts, people, and departments come together to bring a film to life. Join us in a welcoming, supportive environment to learn, ask questions, and strengthen your understanding of the creative vision and practical demands of filmmaking.
