This Thursday we will be hosting a presentation by VEEAM and discussing current events.

Our speaker this month is Matt Crape.

Bio:
Matt Crape is a Senior Technical Product Marketer within the Global Product Marketing team at Veeam. Prior to joining Veeam, Matt was a Senior Technical Account Manager at VMware, where he worked closely with customers to achieve their goals and outcomes. Over the course of 20 years in the industry, Matt has also worked in tech support, systems administration and IT management roles.

Synopsis:
Security is hard; but bad things happen to good data. Backup professionals used to prepare for fire flood and blood types of problems. Security professions plan for different types of disasters. Data Recovery is a key part of a backup strategy and it doesn’t have to be at odds with security teams. You don’t want backup to be a backdoor or sore spot in your security strategy. Ransomware, disasters and more all predicate a need for both: Strong IT Security and Strong Data Protection. Let’s bridge the gap for security professionals and cover his latest advice on the following topics:
• Storage security strategies for backups
• Backup resiliency for ransomware strategies
• Identifying backdoors from data protection solutions

• Showcasing new cloud lifecycle tools to help the backup and archive process be secured
