Software for Social Good

Details
Our guest speakers for this software for social good themed meetup include:
Wale Sobande, Principal with Subvenio Consulting LLC, a global technology and management consulting practice. Is there a role for social responsibility in the development of software? Wale will argue that there is. He will discuss the role of "socially responsible outsourcing" in the software development life cycle, and cite case studies from an ongoing effort with a major software developer. Wale is also passionate about environmental sustainability, as well as technology’s role in empowering individuals — especially the most disadvantaged — to have technical, economic and social agency.
Stephen King, software development student at Green River College, will discuss and demo a dynamic website he and two others recently built that assists English Speaker of Other Language (ESOL) students learn English by allowing users to create digital flash cards.
Jami Schwarzwalder, software development student at Green River College, will discuss the development of a new website for the Kent Food Bank she and a team of students are currently working on as part of a class project in IT 305: Web Development Frameworks.
