What we’re about
6 JANUARY 2025 UPDATE
Hi everyone!
2025 is here. I will be in Japan until mid-March but plan to get SOTB day hikes up and running regularly from the end of March/beginning of April. The daytime temperatures should be OK by then.
In the meantime, Marty Haswell may be posting some cycling events to get you fit for the hiking season.
See you all soon! JR

Hi everyone! Welcome to South of the Border!
Are you keen to get out and about in the natural bushland around Perth? Then this group may be for you!
Most of our activities are day hikes on the outskirts of Perth - generally within an hour's drive of the CBD. The majority of our hikes are off track (not using established trails), so if you RSVP for one of these, be prepared to do a bit of bush bashing, hill climbing, and walking across uneven terrain (the event descriptions will always mention this). The benefit is you will go to places and see things you will not be able to access or see from the established trails.
Hikes that are on track (and therefore, generally easier), will include this information in the event description.
All levels of experience are welcome, however you are encouraged to match your capability to the event descriptions. Because of the length of most hikes and the uneven terrain we hike in, they won't be suitable for younger children (teenagers upwards should generally be OK).
Contact me (JR) if you have any questions or want to discuss your suitability for a particular hike.
We keep things very relaxed with lots of laughs along the way!
See you out there!!!
