South Windsor Rocks Variation

Details

South Windsor Rocks is located within the Monadnocks Conservation Park. The area encompasses several hills and ridges and a number of large exposed rock areas (monadnocks).

This is normally quite a difficult hike, but for this one I plan to take a different route and reduce some of the vertical climb. There will still be some reasonably steep ascents and descents, and towards the end, a steep climb. You will need to be reasonably fit and agile for this one, and confident climbing and descending steep rocky sections.

As always, the route we take will be 100% off track and there may be some scratchy sections. Wearing long pants or gaiters will help protect your legs if you are concerned about scratches.

Photo is from this hike in August 2023.

RSVPs, Late Withdrawals and "No Shows"

If you RSVP to attend this hike and find for some reason that you are unable to make it, please make sure you change your RSVP to "Not Going" as soon as possible. This is particularly important if there is a Wait List. People on the Wait List are automatically added to the hike when participants drop out (if there is a spot available), so a late withdrawal means people on the Wait List may not be given sufficient notice that they are now on the hike.

If something urgent and unforeseen comes up the day before the hike or the morning of the hike and you are not going to make it, please change your RSVP to "Not Going" and also message me (John R) that you are not attending BEFORE the start of the hike. It is unfair on everyone else attending if we are waiting at the meet point for you and you do not show up.

"No Shows" or repeated late withdrawals may result in you being removed from the group.
