Matthew Bates will give an introduction to the popular NoSQL document database MongoDB, including history and background, an overview of the key features, how it compares with relational and other NoSQL databases, as well as common use cases. This talk will also cover new features in the recently released MongoDB 3.0, including document-level locking, pluggable storage, compression and more.
Matt is a technical consultant specialising in systems for the acquisition, management and exploitation of data. He has experience of architecture and deployment of large-scale, distributed, cloud-based systems, with previous roles at MongoDB, Deutsche Telekom and Detica, and recently moved to Bristol with his family. Matt is a Java, Python and Go developer.
