#40 South West Test and Dyson: A evening of Test, Talks, and Gadgets

For our last South West Test of 2023, we have the awesome folk over at Dyson opening their doors to us for the first time at their Bristol office 💚 ( Dyson 2nd Floor One, Cathedral Square Bristol BS1 5T) And, rumour has it, they may even have some cool new Dyson gadgets out for us to have a play with 🤩
We have 2 amazing talks, one from the team at Dyson and one all about Data, along with a little techie quiz, complete with prizes as it’s nearly Christmas 🎄, and, of course, lots of free drinks and pizza courtesy of our hosts for the night 🍕
Our meetups are open to anyone with an interest in Software Testing, whether you are just getting started, or a seasoned veteran. Many people come on their own and we make sure the evening is as friendly and welcoming as possible đź’š
Here’s how the evening tends to run,
Feel free to turn up from 6pm. We'll have a selection of pizza, soft drinks & alcoholic drinks available, all free of charge thanks to Dyson đź’› Grab a slice, mingle with our friendly crowd, and make some new connections. Need an introduction? Just grab our organiser Sam, or dive right in and say "hello!"
Around 6:30 we will then move onto our talks with a break for more pizza in between and a tech quiz for a bit of fun.
Talk 1 : Soheb Khan - Data QA in the Testing Universe
Data and Analytics are reshaping our world, but the unsung heroes behind the scenes are the Data Quality Assurance (QA) Engineers who ensure the accuracy and reliability of data.
Join Soheb as he explores the role of Data QA Engineers, in companies relying on data for critical decisions. Learn about their testing strategies to spot issues early, ensure data accuracy and reliability, ultimately saving costs and helping companies achieve their goals.
Talk 2: Team Dyson - Testing the “ ’Internet of Things’ that don’t exist yet”
At Dyson we design and sell products which are connected and controlled using our My Dyson app.
We develop our app in parallel with the latter stages of the design of the physical product, meaning we don’t have a physical product to test our app with.
This is the story of how we test our My Dyson app against products that don’t quite exist… yet.
