Let's do a trip on SS Shieldhall 25th May 2025 - trip has now sold out

Details

A few of us enjoyed a day out on Steam ship Shieldhall last year. It was great fun!
A few trips on SS Shieldhall in 2025 have a special discount offer of 20.25% off the normal price as long as you book by the end of January 2025. After that the tickets go back up to full price. So please book by 31st January 2025. Please feel free to include family and friends when you book.
You can book your trip here:-
https://ss-shieldhall.co.uk/bookings/cruise-to-portsmouth-harbour-25052025/
and please make sure that you put '2025' in the discount code box to get the lower price. It's normally £62.00 per person and the discount code brings the price down to £49.50 per person. That's great value for a full day out on this lovely heritage vessel. Now believed to be the largest working steam ship in Northern Europe, she is owned and operated entirely by voluntary effort.

"This cruise will recognise the important 85th anniversary of Dunkirk and the role played by Southampton and Portsmouth in ‘Operation Dynamo’, and also the 80th anniversary of VE and VJ Day and the celebrations that took place in the two ports and nationally. We will pass into Portsmouth Harbour, home to the Royal Navy – an exciting opportunity to view Britain’s naval vessels and the dramatic skyline of Portsmouth, including Southsea; Clarence Pier; Spice Island and the Spinnaker Tower, from the water. On our return to berth we can expect to see the cruise ships Arvia and Celebrity Apex departing Southampton – always the chance to sound our whistle and play the ‘Shieldhall Organ’.

Living history re-enactors joining the Cruise on the 25 May 2025 will add to the passenger’s experience of Celebration and Reflection on the historic 80th Anniversaries of VE / VJ Day and Dunkirk 85.
Authentic and respectful portrayals representing Service personnel and civilians of Britain’s WW2 generation, is matched by the reenactor’s knowledge of the subject and dedication to keeping alive the memory and spirit of that era.
Individuals and groups, all with Event, TV, and Film experience, have been bought together by Home Front History, a long established, not for profit, Hampshire educational resource.
Please do feel free to ask questions of the team members, and they will be happy to pose for your souvenir photographs as well.
The Shieldhall Padre, The Reverend Dennis Mould, will also be present to conduct a short service and wreath laying, to which all are welcome to attend.

As part of your cruise, see the impressive engine room with its original steam engines at work and the bridge, with its traditional instruments and gleaming brasswork; admire the ship’s steam assisted steering gear (similar to that used on Titanic); talk to the Captain and our volunteer crew; listen to the informed commentary on the sights and sounds of Southampton Water and The Solent; pass close to the great ocean liners and container ships; walk the teak decks;
You can also relax in the Saloon with a wide range of refreshments including tea / coffee; real ale; a range of bottled beers; wine and hot and cold food, including ice cream, available on all trips.
Courtesy parking is available close to the berth.
If you have a blue badge or a mobility problem, please let the team at SS Shieldhall know when you book so they can allocate you a parking space on the quayside, next to the berth.
