Let's visit Townhill Park House and gardens on 5th May 2025

Come along to the Townhill Park House Gardens Open Day on Monday 5th May 2025 from 2pm-5pm to see the trees in blossom and bluebells in the arboretum. Postcode SO18 3RR
There may be a classic car display there as well. Refreshments available. FREE admission and parking. Please note the comment from Teri about a possible charge of £4 which has been introduced.

Please remember to bring some cash for any refreshments you fancy having - or any of the second hand books which are for sale. Cash donations to the volunteer fund are also very welcome.

For those who haven't been before this is a gentle stroll and a chance to have a nice chat with other members of this MeetUp group. Townhill Park House & gardens is also known as the Gregg School - and is only normally open to the public 4 times per year, although some local theatrical groups do stage plays there in the gardens from time to time.

Please wear suitable shoes for taking a stroll around the gardens as it might be muddy in places. The walk around the grounds is also quite uneven in places so please bear this in mind. With the current warm weather, please bring your own bottle of water too.

"Townhill Park has formal gardens, a woodland garden and a landscape park of approximately 12 hectares. The land was part of the Townhill Park Estate which in 1948 covered 324 hectares. There are Italianate gardens by L Rome Guthrie dating from 1912. There are also planting schemes by Gertrude Jekyll (1912/13). The house has been a school since 1994, since which time a program of restoration has been undertaken. The gardens open to the public for four open days each year."
