GETTING THERE
The address is Warner Hotels - Littlecote House, Hungerford RG17 0SU.
From the B4192 follow the signs for Littlecote House. Once in the grounds you follow the road until you see the house in front of you. Take the left road and the car park for visitors to the Villa is down on the right. (Do not go right at the House as this leads to guest parking). Parking is FREE.
MEETING UP
We’ll meet at the visitors’ car park at Littlecote House at 10.15am. I’m aiming to start the tour promptly at 10.30am. If you arrive late call me on 07947 368697 and we can discuss where to meet.
TOUR AT LITTLECOTE HOUSE
Here we’ll first visit the site of the Roman Villa, walk round the grounds and take a look inside Littlecote House, a Grade 1 Tudor Manor. Entry is FREE. rhttps://www.visitpewseyvale.co.uk/business-directory/littlecote-roman-villa-mosaic/aic/aic/aic/
There will also be the opportunity to enjoy some refreshments. People can either stay as part of the group or are free to walk around on their own.
DRIVE & PARKING HUNGERFORD
We’ll meet back at the car park at 1pm prompt. It’s around an 8 minute drive into Hungerford. Parking is limited and costs £3 for over 4 hours, so people might like to car share and we can leave some vehicles at Littlecote. However this will mean taking the short drive back to Littlecote to drop people back to their vehicles. I suggest we arrange this on the day.
The main car park in Hungerford is the Railway Station car park, Station Road RG17 0DY.

AT HUNGERFORD
Take the alley way, called Cutters Lane, that leads from the car park to the High Street. You’ll pass a shop called M&P Hardware. As you come out of the alley there is a barbers on the right and railway bridge on the left. We’ll meet by the railway bridge. From here people will have free time to browse the shops in the high street or grab some lunch. either independently or as part of the group.
BARGE TRIP
The Rose of Hungerford is located at Canal Walk off Hungerford High Street - under railway bridge, over the canal bridge and the berth is on the left side of the road. We’ll meet there from 2.15pm for the 2.30pm trip. Please ensure you have your ticket. Details of the trip https://katrust.org.uk/our-boats/the-rose-of-hungerford-bookings.
REFRESHMENTS/FOOD
There is no planned lunch venue, however there is the opportunity to purchase refreshments at Littlecote House, in Hungerford and on the canal boat. Alternatively you can bring snacks/packed lunch. People have asked me what I plan to do for food. I personally will be bringing a drink and snack, and will be purchasing refreshments at Littlecote House and on the canal boat - I hope that is helpful.
WHAT TO BRING
The weather forecast is currently showing warm, but with the chance of rain. We all know the vagaries of the English weather so please come prepared for all eventualities - sun screen, hat and glasses, drink, rain Mac etc
A reminder that this event is shared with another group. Looking forward to seeing you all and enjoying a great day out.
