Walk Ashurst, New Forest

Meet at 12.45pm at Ashurst Station, New Forest, for a 1pm start.
From Ashurst railway station this short 2.8 mile walk explores a variety of landscapes that characterise the New Forest. Firstly taking us past open Forest lawns where ponies graze and through Churchplace Inclosure, a timber plantation, before crossing the railway into Ashurst Wood. Then continue along a road that winds pleasantly through ancient pasture woodland and across a grassy lawn to the historic remains of a saltpetre house. Return via a roadside cycle track to Ashurst village. The walk is mainly on the flat and gravel paths.
I will be travelling by train catching the 12.08 from Winchester arriving 12.45pm. People might like to consider travelling by rail from Southampton Central leaving at 12.35pm arriving 12.45pm.
