San Jose and South Bay Cohousing:Intentional Neighborhoods

This event is at a senior cohousing-like affordable rental community established half a century ago, with a focus on how we can live well together and support each other in Aging in Community. While the focus is not on cohousing and there are no open waiting lists and no current openings, this is about the social layer and relationships of community living. I will be saying a few words as part of this -- Raines, East Bay Cohousing / Cohousing CA

Gray Panther Members usually gather socially most second Wednesdays each month. In May we'll be gathering at Strawberry Creek Lodge, the oldest senior affordable housing community in Berkeley, The public is also invited for this event that is part of East Bay Affordable Housing Month, featuring speakers from Strawberry Creek Lodge Tenants Council, and other seniors living in similar communities.

We'll have tea and light refreshments in the garden, opportunity to hear speakers and join discussions on key topics.

Residents, staff, and board members of affordable housing and cooperative developers are invited to learn from residents of multiple senior buildings what the secrets of growing a strong sense of community as an essential part of aging well.

The Lodge ground floor and garden are wheelchair accessible, van
drop-off is available, but Parking is on street only; Easily accessible by AC Transit 72, 51, 88 and North Berkeley BART, electric bike sharing stations are close by.

The Seniors in Cohousing Advocates Committee of the National Cohousing Association (Coho/US) will be facilitating an informal conversation for those interested in senior cohousing and/or senior living in intergenerational cohousing. This (free) event will take place every month on the 20th at 10am Mountain Time.
