Russian Ridge Open Space Preserve/Mindego Hill

Difficulty: Moderately Strenuous
Length: 8 miles
Elevation Gain: 1,850 feet
Hike Description: This hike will start at the Russian Ridge Alpine road parking lot (Audie C. Rust Commemorative Site parking) located ~2 miles (rough estimate) after the turn off Hwy 35 onto Alpine Road. There is a restroom in the parking lot. We'll take the Ancient Oaks trail back toward Ridge trail, then take Ridge trail northwest out to the last intersection where we'll turn left and descend across a western-facing slope. When Charquin trail intersects with Mindego Hill trail we'll turn right and hike to the top of Mindego Hill for a break and stunning views (expect cows). We'll return on Mindego Hill trail and on to the parking lot.

Directions to Trailhead: From the South Bay, take highway 9 to Skyline (Hwy 35) and drive northwest to the intersection with Page Mill and Alpine Roads. Turn left onto Alpine Road and follow approximately 2 miles (rough estimate) to the preserve parking lot.
