This 8.3 mile hike begins with a climb on Dutch Flat Trail to the ridge top along southwestern edge of park. We'll hike along the top with views of southern end of Santa Clara valley to the right and eventually make a gradual descent to an intersection with Brush trail. We'll follow Brush trail across grassland area to Eagle Trail and follow that to Lower San Felipe Trail to make our way back. The latter portion of this hike is largely flat and exposed with slight elevation gain as we proceed back towards start point. Total elevation gain is ~1550 ft.
The entrance fee is $6. Once past the entry kiosk, take the park road to the end, at the traffic circle, and park on the left near the restrooms.

Two routes are available from San Jose to Grant Ranch: Quimby Road is steep and twisty but short, and Alum Rock to highway 130 is a bit longer and not steep.
