Huddart Park - Phleger Estate

About the Parks: The forested slopes and steep, cool canyons of Huddart Park are located within easy reach of the population centers of the San Francisco Peninsula. The park is only 3.5 miles west of Highway 84. Huddart Park offers numerous trails, some for horseback riding and hiking, and some for hiking only. Trails run along gulches and creeks, others traverse unique hillside habitats and lead you to breathtaking views of the countryside.
Phleger Estate is a pretty second growth redwood forest. It is accessed from inside Huddart Park outside the town of Woodside. The trail is shaded the entire way. Phleger Estate is part of the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy, and Huddart Park is a San Mateo County park.

Carpool Details: One possible location to carpool from is the Park and Ride lot at Page Mill and Arastradero near 280. You can arrange carpooling via the comments.

Directions to Trailhead: When coming to Huddart from the north (San Francisco) or the south (San Jose), use Highway 280. Take the Woodside Road (Highway 84) exit. Turn westbound (towards Woodside). Proceed approximately 1.5 miles through Woodside. Turn right onto Kings Mountain Road. Proceed up the hill on Kings Mountain Road approximately 2.1 miles to the Huddart Park entrance on the right (at .8 miles from Woodside Road you need to veer to the right to stay on Kings Mountain Road). There is a $6.00 per car fee to get into Huddart Park. You pay the fee at the ranger's kiosk or, if no one is in the kiosk, just past the kiosk on the right is a self-serve pay area.

Once you pass the ranger's kiosk go straight through the first stop sign toward Zwierlein Area. Take the next right towards Zwierlein Area, then just before the restroom there is a parking lot for the Zwierlein Trailhead. We'll meet at this parking lot at 8:30 a.m.
