NEW LOCATION
Wildflowers last year were specacular, and we'll be treated to water, lakes, waterfalls. Hopefully, the flowers are still blooming with brilliance.
Plus, its at the base of three 14ers. To the south, Democrat, Cameron, and Bross. To the north is the 13er North Star and Wheeler Mtn.
Wheeler Lake is located near Alma and Hoosier Pass.
Level of difficulty: Moderate per Alltrails
Length: about 8 miles roundtrip with an elevation gain of 1,246 feet
Elevation: 10,975 to 12,190 ft -- steeper near the end
Trailhead 7:35 a.m. at the trailhead

Please see attached photo for trailhead location. From Highway 9 just south of Hoosier Pass, you'll turn west on a dirt road, County Rd 4 (about 1.8 miles to the trailhead) toward the trailhead.
Items to bring include: sunscreen, hat, jacket, hiking shoes, rain gear, food, trekking poles, and water.
