Do not confuse with nearby Spruce Meadows Open Space. Our trailhead is on S Spruce Mountain Rd between Larkspur and Palmer Lake.
It's a 500-foot elevation gain to 7600 feet, most in the first 1.5 miles. Rated moderate by Alltrails, let's call it easy-to-moderate.
Directions from Denver: I-25 south to Larkspur exit 173. You'll head south on S Spruce Mountain Rd thru the town of Larkspur (obey speed limits!). It's almost 6 miles from the I-25 exit to the trailhead; parking lot on the right side of the road.
From Co Springs: From Palmer Lake, drive NE on S Spruce Mountain Rd about 4 miles, parking lot is on the left.
Please be aware that the elevation may create some challenges.
Items you may want to bring include: sunscreen, jacket, hat, food, hiking boots, trekking poles if you think you'll need them, and water.
