What we’re about
PLEASE READ THIS FIRST!!
Hi there!
This is what's left of the original (founded in 2015) Hampshire Gay Men's Walking Group, but first and foremost it's a walking group for Gay Men (as opposed to the LGBTQ+ community) who would like to meet other guys in a safe, unbiased space on walks and at events across beautiful Hampshire and the surrounding counties of Dorset, Wiltshire, Surrey and West Sussex.
Walks are not over long or particularly strenuous, with an average of about 4-8 miles, usually ending at a pub, or eatery along the way and we aim to cover all areas, but would always welcome suggestions, or Walk Leaders* prepared to take them (*just ask for details!)
You DO NEED TO JOIN THIS MEETUP GROUP BEFORE attending a walk - this is so we have some idea who is coming and for health and safety and legal reasons, but you are always welcome to bring an adult guest of the same gender. At the moment there Is NO fee for Membership, or for the cost of attending a walk, but you are always welcome to show appreciation to the Walk Leader in the pub afterwards, as sometimes a lot of preparation goes into the walk itself! You will also need approval that you meet the terms and conditions* of the group, so bear that in mind!
You are welcome to join our Whatsapp chat site too, once you have come to at least ONE of our walks and actually met us, so come along - we hope to see you soon!😁
This is the link to our WhatsApp group to keep our members in touch with each other and discuss events etc: **https://chat.whatsapp.com/LQ5XRBp4YH0FWpNBrBdNI9**
*One last thing - we do need an actual name for your identification and a recent photo of you (a face shot only please!) If you have a problem with this, then please contact us - we are understanding as to why you might wish not to share this information, but there are a lot of scammers out there too!
Also please note, this Meetup group is NOT covered by insurance, so you walk entirely at your own risk. The Walk Leader will point out any potential hazards before starting the walk, but you are responsible for your own well-being and safety.
Photos - if you don't want to appear in publicity photographs, just let the Walk Leader know - we quite understand why you may not wish to be identified!
Clothing - don't forget to bring appropriate clothing, suitable to the weather, suitable footwear (walking boots or wellingtons) and a small bottle of water if you get dehydrated or a snack (a walking stick is also useful!) Walks will ALWAYS go ahead, whatever the weather (this is England, after all!) unless there is a health and safety issue, as your safety is of paramount importance to us!
