Space available - Rough Water with Nate Hanson of Pinniped Kayak
Details
With schedule changes due to weather, one spot remains for this full day of training with Nate Hanson of Pinniped Kayak!
Fee Event - Rough Water Skills Development
We'll spend the day improving our ability to paddle and play in current, rocks and surf (or some combination of those). Nate's goal in this environment is to help you adapt and expand existing paddling skills to unlock the puzzles that rougher waters present - crossing eddy lines, surfing standing waves, navigating in rocks and swell, etc. We'll look for ways to read the environment and work in concert with the ocean's energy, instead of just muscling our way through the lumps. We'll also find approaches to keep our rough-water adventures safer, and practice dealing with the sorts of mishaps that can occur in current, rocks, and waves.
Nate is offering a 10% discount , and 10% of the class fee is being paid by SMSKN making this session $128 for each member. His usual fee is $160 per day.
Trip Level: Intermediate. To allow everyone to have a great experience participants need at least have basic edging and turning strokes, basic concept of bracing, and solid wet exits, and be familiar with 2-person rescues.
Please bring a helmet, kayak, paddle, paddling apparel appropriate for occasional swims in 60 degree water, pfd, skirt, and secure footwear. If you have towing or leadership equipment that you'd like to practice with, please bring that with you as well. Bring lunch.
Start time: Kitted up and ready by 9am.
