2nd Annual "Stone-Soup Kayak Dry-land Gathering"

Join us for the SECOND ANNUAL "Stone Soup" Kayak Dry-land Gathering at Payson Park in Portland. (There is no alternative "rain-date" if we have to cancel due to inclement weather. So, unless we have crazy crazy weather (last year almost qualified), I expect to be there.)

This event is open to all SMSKN members AND non-members interested in learning more about sea kayaking.

The primary objectives of this event are:
1. Fun community and fellowship amongst SMSKN members in a low-stress, casual, dry-land environment.
2. Introduce and/or broaden awareness of sea kayaking to the public.
3. Promote safe sea kayaking practices.

The "Stone Soup" title comes from the parable of the traveler who visited a small village with nothing but a pot and some stones. But, after inviting everyone in the village to contribute a little something, the entire village feasted on a delicious stew.

What might you contribute? (Not needed to attend!)

No great effort needed ... this is supposed to be fun and relaxing.
- Bring your boats and kit to show others what you do (especially new folks)
- Any special kayaking based interests you'd like to share? (i.e. are you the expert on repair kits or tents? What can we learn from you?)
- "Boat Yard" - Looking to buy/sell/trade??? Boats? Gear? - we will have a designated area (aka the "Boat Yard") where folks with boats or gear to trade / sell can place for viewing. (Disclaimer: SMSKN is NOT directly involved with any sales nor will it benefit from / receive any sales revenue. All sales are between the interested parties. SMSKN is just providing the space.)
