Peer-to-Peer Skills Series: Towing

Details

These sessions are going to be coordinated by various folks from the Skill Building Team at SMSKN. This session, co-hosted by Glen Gordon and Cath Kimball, and will focus on towing: short tow's, long tows, contact tows. Whether or not you've towed someone in the past, this will be a good time to practice using your kit!

Participants are encouraged to share their own knowledge and experience with other paddlers so that we all learn from and support each another.

This session will meet at Lookout Point in Harpswell.

Bring: sea worthy kayak with attachable spray deck, kayak must float when swamped, PFD, immersion clothing appropriate for water temperatures. Helmets are recommended. If you have a short tow and/or long tow, please bring it. If you do not, that is okay, we will share the available equipment.

To ensure everyone safely gets the most out of this practice session, attendees should have a solid wet exit and know basic paddling strokes.
Trip level: Beginner (Level 1) and above

Please check weather and tide conditions before arriving so that you can prepare appropriately.

Please try to arrive by 3:30 and be ready to launch by 4:00pm. We will preview some techniques on land at 4:00pm.
