“Sacred Psychology is the ancient art of psycho-spiritual alchemy. It transforms the 'lead' of the psyche into the 'gold' of integration and higher consciousness.”
--Helen Palmer
The Enneagram is an ancient and sacred nine-pointed symbol that describes nine distinct personality types. Study and practice of this profound, powerful and non-sectarian system helps one to: 1) Identify and transform mental, emotional and physical habits; 2) Integrate psychological and spiritual life; 3) Increase both self-knowledge and compassionate understanding of others.
In this group we will explore both the fundamentals of this symbol and system, and more intermediate topics such as the 3 Instincts and 27 Subtypes, Enneagram Types as "archetypes," the Vice/Passion to Virtue Conversion, charting our Personal Growth Paths, and more. Please note that this will be the last meeting in our 2024-2025 intermediate level study group. If there is continued interest I will host a more advanced Enneagram Monthly Study Group later in 2025. For more information, stay connected to Meetup and look for emails!
We will learn how to practically apply the knowledge and wisdom that can be discovered within the nine types and their interrelationships in many areas of life, including: work, relationships, education, parenting, health and healing, aging, and spiritual development.
Although this group is not designed to be a form of psychotherapy, medical treatment or spiritual counseling, many who study the Enneagram do walk away with some insight, healing and spiritual inspiration. What the group offers is a working knowledge of a magical, mysterious and powerful map, tool and vehicle for personal and collective transformation.
It includes teachings, guided meditations, Type Panels (if there are enough participants), breakout groups, and general discussions. Questions and comments are always welcome. Although this series is designed primarily for intermediate students, beginners and more advanced students are certainly welcome.
Please note: Members will be asked to turn on their video when participating, except for short personal breaks (going to the kitchen or bathroom, needing to answer a phone call, an emergency, etc.). This is to prevent "Zoom bombing," and to encourage active participation and community building. Thanx!
Who should attend this event? Anyone, of any age, who is genuinely interested in psychological growth and spiritual development is welcome to join us. Many know something about the Enneagram but have never studied and practiced it with other like-minded souls. Please feel free to pass on this information to possibly interested friends, family members and co-workers. Guests of Meetup members are welcome too, as are your furry friends...
Strongly recommended book: The Complete Enneagram, by Beatrice Chestnut. We will be reading the Introduction and Chapters 1 and 2 for the first two months. Then we will study the 9 Types in depth in the following order: 2, 3, 4 then 5, 6, 7 then 8, 9, 1. Our 12th and final meeting will be a summary and an integration of the materials covered in the first two years, a chance to ask any and all pending questions and comments, and to look forward to future studies and practices later in 2025.
