Join or start a team to find hidden transmitters in the Bay Area. This activity, called "Radio Direction Finding", "Transmitter Hunting" or "Fox Hunting" is a fun outdoor activity that does not require a Ham License since you are not transmitting. A radio license is good to have to get the most fun, but not necessary to be on a team.
Note: Start locations vary or change. Check the Website to confirm details and get more information.

Why do we do what we do?
We RDF or T-hunt for 3 reasons:
First have fun. If you aren't having fun, even if you are losing regularly, then you need to reevaluate why you’re out here. Lighten up and treat it as an opportunity to learn. This isn't serious stuff. This is recreational stuff, a hobby, and a hobby should be fun.
Speaking of learning that is the second reason we are out here. Every hunt is a chance to learn something, even if it is a small thing. Sometimes the learned and experienced learn the most on a particular hunt.
The third reason is because we enjoy each other’s company and camaraderie. We learn from each other. We tell stories. We give each other a "hard time" when we do poorly (OPEC award). But we still genuinely enjoy being out here with our fellow hams. Never take anything too seriously (Refer to reason #1.)
