What we’re about
This SPECS Meetup group was created to promote events related to Ham Radio and disaster communications in the Bay Area. The events may require registration with the hosting organization, but are usually free. We encourage and support all aspects of Ham Radio, as any operator is a potential EmComm operator.
SPECS is a 501c3 organization dedicated to helping recruit and train people to serve as Emergency Communicators during disasters or public service events.

Begun in the 80s the Wednesday memorial luncheon is held in memory of Arv, WA6UUT, who started the 9am Talk Net as a way to help new Hams. The luncheon is a group of hams with over 600 years of experience, and topics range over just about anything related to ham radio.

- Agenda: TBA
You can also sign up directly on their MeetUp
San Mateo (Amateur) Radio Club - SMRC Events- The in-person meeting location is The Congregational Church of San Mateo - please watch our short video for directions, as the path to the meeting room is not as obvious as you may think. The parking lot does not have an “official” address, but Google Maps seems to work with the address 220 Catalpa St, San Mateo, CA, 94401. We meet in the Betsy Woodward Christian Education building, the Will Bullis Community Room, 2nd Floor. This congregational church allows SMRC to use its meeting room free of charge. They may be interested in eventually becoming an emergency response coordination center, and emergency ham radio communications could be needed at that time.
