We Hike to Heal Middle Georgia - Dauset Trails
Details
We'll be hiking Dauset Trails which is a 3-4 mile trail just 40 miles northwest of Macon and 60 miles southeast of downtown Atlanta. This is a moderate hike with a lake, ferns and moss, streams, and wildlife. We welcome all fitness levels to join us; the goal is to enjoy the journey, we are never in a race!
Once we reach about halfway, we'll plan to take a break to catch our breath, enjoy the view and do a little gratitude journaling!
Time: 9am (please be punctual!)
Location/Directions: 360 Mt Vernon Church Rd, Jackson, GA 30233
GPS location coordinates: 63J2+V9 Jackson, Georgia
Parking: there is a gravel parking area at the trailhead
Difficulty level/Distance: moderate - can be done with a cane or trekking poles - there are tree roots and rocks throughout the trail
Restroom Facilities: Port-a-potties at the trailhead
What you will need for this hike:
- Plenty of water to drink! (we recommend at least 1-3 liters)
- Bug spray - there are ticks and mosquitoes
- Sunblock and/or hat to protect you from the sun
- Comfortable hiking shoes/boots or trail sneakers
- Comfortable moisture wicking clothing - workout clothes work just fine!
- A daypack/backpack to carry all your items
- A towel to sit on if you're uncomfortable sitting on the ground
- Your journal and a pen
