Hiking weekend away - Hartington Hall, Peak District with local firework display

• What we'll do:
Affordable two day hiking weekend in the Peak District National Park, Derbyshire with one overnight stay Saturday night.
Leave early Saturday morning, stay Saturday night at YHA Hartington Hall, a historic 17th-century manor house with log fires, oak panelling and plenty of original features (see photo above).
Meet at High Barnet station 07:30 a.m. Saturday morning for car sharing or meet us outside YHA Hartington Hall 11:00 a.m. Saturday if travelling independently.
Hike Saturday and Sunday, return Sunday evening.
Optional visit to bonfire and firework display in Leek or Buxton Saturday evening (extra cost).

COST AND PAYMENT
The price is now reduced to £21 for 1 night bed only budget accommodation in single-gender shared room (typically 4 - 6 beds) @ £21.00 per night. Members of YHA (or another Hostelling International association) get £3 per night reduction so it's £18. For this weekend, 100% of what you pay goes to YHA.
Breakfast, other meals, transport and admission to firework display are not included
The number on the weekend will be a minimum of 4, maximum 12. If you sign up for this weekend, we shall let you know when payment is due and how to pay. Please don't book travel, etc. until your place is confirmed and you have paid.
TRANSPORT OPTIONS
-Train or coach to Buxton then bus High Peak 442 to Hartington village then walk then walk 500 metres up hill (No Sunday bus service but organisers can drive you to Buxton Sunday by prior arrangement.)
-Own car or car sharing (if available), 146 mls each way plus 11 - 13 mls each way to Leek or Buxton for firework display. For car sharing, the suggested contribution to the driver is 318 mls @ 7.5p = £23.85 return for each passenger.
ACCOMMODATION
YHA accommodation in shared single gender room (bunk beds).
MEALS
Prepare your own food in the self-catering kitchen or buy breakfast, packed lunch, evening meal at YHA Hartington or Saturday evening meal in pub.
ARRIVAL TIME SATURDAY
We can check in 3 p.m. to 11 pm.
HIKING PLANS
Saturday: Wolfscote Dale/Biggin Dale approx 10 miles, some hills.
Sunday: Manifold Valley, approx. 8 miles some hills.

• What to bring

For hikes: Hiking boots with good grip (footpaths may be steep, slippery or muddy in places), suitable outdoor clothing for weather conditions including extra layer for outdoor stops and waterproof jacket for rain.
