Normandale Japanese Garden

Details

Come photograph this little gem tucked away on the Normandale Community College campus! The Normandale Japanese garden showcases "authentic Japanese features, including a garden wall and entry gate, a waterfall, two shelters, three islands, three lanterns, four bridges, and a Bentendo — a hexagonal structure common throughout Japan." Admission is free, although donations are encouraged. The garden is open until sunset, so hopefully we can enjoy some of golden hour before it closes.

Enter campus from Collegeville Road and follow the signs to the Japanese Garden, which will lead you to Lot 3 (north side of campus). We will meet at the entrance to the garden (walk between the white wall/picnic area and the buildings, turn left at the end of the wall, entrance will be on your left).

Bring bug spray, water, and snacks if needed. Trails are mostly paved, and there is a portable toilet available near the parking lot. Event will take place if it's raining, but not if there are thunderstorms. I will post a message by 5:00 p.m. if the event is cancelled. All levels of photographers welcome!

Note: Photographers who are planning to take photos in the Garden that they intend to sell must purchase a photo permit. I'm assuming we are all just shooting for fun, but if you fit the above category please be a good citizen and purchase a permit (https://www.normandale.edu/why-normandale/community/japanese-garden/index.html, $25 for daily permit).

By signing up for this event, you agree to release the host and all other attendees from any liability through your participation.
