Fort Ancient x 2!

We just had our first event at Fort Ancient, and had a wonderful group and a nice time! I’m going to go back and spend more time in the museum and gift shop, then take a hike to see more of the site. One visit was not enough!

Let’s start out by meeting at the visitor center at 2:00, and take about an hour to really enjoy the exhibit and browse the gift shop. At 3:00 we will take the Earthworks trail which is approximately 1 mile long. It is rated with a difficulty level of moderate. This trail features two scenic overlooks with views of the earthworks, so we can get a better view of the site. If anyone is interested, we can always add on some of the other trails or walk the road through the park for the self-guided tour that highlights some of the other specific mounds.
I have cross-posted this event with the nature lovers group for anyone who wants to join us for the hike only at 3:00.

The entry cost for adults is $7; however, today, several of us purchased memberships that cost $50 and allow free entry for one person and a guest at over 50 historic sites. This will be a bargain if you are interested in visiting other sites, and I will be scheduling events at many of them.
