Shawnee Lookout: Trails with Native American burial mounds and Earthworks

Details
Let’s take the Little Turtle and Miami Fort Trails at Shawnee Lookout! Both offer beautiful views of the Ohio river, and though the leaves are past peak, we will still have some pretty colors and wonderful views from the hillsides. The Little Turtle Trail is about 2 miles long and includes a view of a prehistoric Native American burial mound. The Miami Fort Trail goes through a Native American earthwork and is about 1.4 miles long. This trail includes a view of the Ohio river that will allow us to see Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky at the same time.
This park also includes a historic log cabin and springhouse from the late 1700s and early 1800s.
The great park system has rated these trails, moderate, and they can have some steep hills. Be advised that many of the restrooms and water fountains are closed for the season.
Admission is $5 a day for Hamilton County residents, or $8 a day for non-residents. You can also purchase a membership that is good for the rest of the year. Those are $10 for residents and $16 for non-residents. Definitely a good deal if you plan on seeing more than one park!
