Join The Medicine Way for the next gathering in our ongoing educational series, Walking the Medicine Path, as we turn our attention toward Ayahuasca—an ancestral plant medicine with deep roots among Indigenous peoples and healing traditions of the Amazon.
For this gathering, we are honored to welcome Vivica Koman Kena as our featured presenter. Together, we will explore the history and cultural traditions surrounding Ayahuasca, the plants and preparation associated with the medicine, contemporary research, and the importance of approaching these traditions with respect, discernment, and cultural awareness.
We will also explore some of the practical and relational aspects of working with non-ordinary states of consciousness, including:
• Intention and preparation
• Set, setting, and the ceremonial container
• The role of the facilitator and community
• Safety, screening, and harm reduction
• Integration and bringing insights into everyday life
• Respect for Indigenous knowledge, lineage, and the traditions from which these medicines emerge
Walking the Medicine Path is not about encouraging the use of psychedelics. It is about creating space for education, thoughtful conversation, harm reduction, and a deeper understanding of the cultural, spiritual, psychological, and contemporary contexts surrounding these medicines.
Whether you have personal experience, are supporting someone on their journey, work within the healing professions, or are simply curious and wanting to learn, you are welcome.
