Susan Marie Smith-Houts is an award-winning former Associate Professor and current marketing and community engagement professional with more than 15 years of experience in communication, higher education, and healthcare outreach. She taught Public Speaking, Interpersonal Communication and Career Development Courses at Eastern Florida State College for 13 years and was named the 2018 Distinguished Educator of the Year.
She moved here from Florida last month to fulfill a lifelong dream of living in the Pacific Northwest. As she will tell you during her presentation, she has never been happier and is so excited to become an integral part of the community - including joining this amazing group.
Susan holds a Master of Arts in Mass Communication from the University of Central Florida (Summa Cum Laude) and a Bachelor of Science in Journalism from Troy State University (Magna Cum Laude).
Her professional background includes leadership in healthcare marketing, brand development, referral strategy, and community partnership growth. She is a frequent speaker on clear and effective communication, leadership presence, senior and caregiver concerns, and practical strategies for strengthening professional relationships. She is proud to be the new Community Liaison for the family owned Careage Home Health - King County and is looking forward to developing partnerships in both the Washington health care and business communities. It takes a village to support a Senior - and we all play a part!
Susan’s work is grounded in a core belief that clear communication improves organizations, supports families, and strengthens communities, and she has developed today's presentation to help us all improve our communication strategies in both our personal and professional lives.
