Hike Hickory Creek Preserve, LaPorte Road Access, in Mokena, IL, about 4 miles

Details

This is the LaPorte Road access to the Hickory Creek Preserve, NOT Hickory Creek Junction, where we more frequently hike, so make sure to check the map if you haven't been there. Access is to the eastern segment of the Hickory Creek Bikeway.

We'll walk about 4 miles out and back on an easy paved path through nice woods and prairie. We will turn around at the Frankfort Township offices along Route 30, aka, Lincoln Hwy. Since it's an out-and-back route, you can always turn around earlier if desired. There are some side trails, so we can extend this walk to 5 miles if you like.

The weather is projected to be in the upper 80’s, sunny and dry. It should be a great day for a hike. It will be hot, so bring water. You might also consider a hat or sunscreen. Dress for the heat.
