Hike Hickory Creek Preserve, LaPorte Road Access, in Mokena, IL, about 4 miles

Details
The weather on Thursday afternoon is forecast to be in the upper 80’s, (hot) sunny, and dry. Because it will be hot, bring water. You might also consider a hat or sunscreen and bug spray; there might be mosquitoes and/or ticks in the area. Dress for the heat.
I know we come here often, but the shade this preserve offers is hard to beat. We'll walk about 4 miles out and back on an easy, paved path through a nice mix of woods and prairie. We will turn around at the Frankfort Township offices along Route 30, aka, Lincoln Hwy. Since it's an out-and-back route, you can always turn around earlier. There are some side trails, so I was thinking we can do the return leg of this hike partially in the woods. It would extend the mileage a little bit.
This is the LaPorte Road access to the Hickory Creek Preserve, NOT Hickory Creek Junction, where we more frequently hike, so be sure to check the map if you haven't been there. Access is to the eastern segment of the Hickory Creek Bikeway.
