DuPage River Trail at Hammel Woods, 3.5 miles or more
Details
This is a very nice mostly wooded trail with views of the DuPage River. The hike is a roughly 3-mile loop on natural surfaces and asphalt. Hopefully we'll see wildflowers in bloom. Depending on what the group decides, we'll probably extend it to about 5 miles by continuing down-and-back to the canoe launch, and/or crossing Black Rd and following the trail north. There are several options available.
The 445-acre Hammel Woods is part of the DuPage River preservation system. Information and a trail map are available at:

We'll access the trail from the Dog Park parking lot. This entrance is located on the south side of Black Road, just west of I-55, in Shorewood, and is called the DuPage River Access. There are several entrances to, and parking lots for, this preserve, so make sure you follow directions and allow ample time to find us, it's confusing!
