See all- Join me for brunch at the Federal Galley and then the PGH Pride Fest on SUN 6/1.Federal Galley, Pittsburgh, PA
I hope you all can join me for brunch at the Federal Galley (200 Children's Way · Pittsburgh, PA), and then the Pittsburgh Pride Festival on Sunday June 1st.
The pride festivities are in the Allegheny Commons Park West (W Ohio St, Pittsburgh, PA 15212). It's a 7-minute walk from Federal Galley, so after brunch we can walk to the park or a bit up the street from the park to watch the pride parade. I am likely watching the parade a bit up the street from the festival as it's "crazy" crowded at the park afterward as the parade ends there.
I'm doing brunch at Federal Galley at 10:00 AM (to start at 10:30 or so), because the pride festivities (including the parade) start at 12:00 PM, and I'm hoping that getting to the area a couple hours early will make parking easier.
FYI. I'm planning to get down to the Federal Galley even earlier by 9:45 AM to hopefully make parking even easier, but parking may still be hard to come by due to the festival.
If available, my recommendation for parking is to use the Nova Place Parking Garage (Parking Rates & Directions | Nova Place). They're a 2-minute walk to Federal Galley, but they're probably going to raise prices during pride fest, so you will likely be paying more then normally, but I'm fine with that, as long as it's easy parking and close to Federal Galley and the Allegheny Commons Park West.
One way of maybe getting around parking issues in and around the Pride Fest would be to park further out and uber in as I think Sonny recommended at one point.
By the way, last year we were able to meetup prior to the festival for brunch, but during the festival it was difficult to stay together as a large group, so we will likely break off into smaller groups during the festival and just run back into each other as we visit vendors and watch the various musical acts.
Additionally, after getting settled somewhere at the festival, I plan to share the GPS coordinates of the location via chat here and cell, so we have a location at the festival to hangout when we're not walking around.
Please don't feel obligated to join the group after brunch at the pride festival, as not everyone is good with crowds or have the stamina to do a lot of walking, so if you would rather just do brunch, and either stay at the Federal Galley, or just visit the festival a bit, or go home, do that instead.
If you do end up coming back to / staying at the Federal Galley, please share that with the group here or via cell directly in case someone else is interested in doing the same.
Personally, I will be doing brunch and then going to the festival afterward.
IMPORTANT message for the women in the group, "wear reasonable shoes", as unless you stay at the Federal Galley you will be doing lots and lots and lots of walking!
