Barrier Island Sanctuary Center
Details
Rob Lane and Joy Winet (Barrier Island Center Education Coordinator and Naturalist) will lead.
The Barrier Island Sanctuary and Center are located in the heart of the Archie Carr National Wildlife Refuge, a major nesting site for sea turtles.
We will do logistics at 9 AM inside center: sign in, restrooms (should be open at 9 AM), then Joy will meet us for the tour of the center at 9:15 AM, followed by a 1 Mile hike.
Walking will be moderate, the trails may have some uneven terrain, closed-toe shoes and insect protection is encouraged.
The Barrier Island Sanctuary and Center are a part of the Environmentally Endangered Lands Program (EEL).
