Improving Web Performance
This session will start with a traditional web site and show step by step how to improve its performance and cut its client footprint by 75%! Research shows 80-90% of page response time is due to front end tasks such as downloading CSS, JavaScript, and images. Much of that time can be eliminated with 3 simple rules: make fewer requests; send as little as possible; and send as infrequently as possible. These rules can be followed easily using techniques like minification, bundling, compression, expirations, sprites and image optimization. There are also several tools that can help identify and validate sound performance best practices. Many other performance boosting techniques will also be discussed, which can reduce response time while also boosting the scalability and reliability of your site. Learn the techniques that can have the largest impact on web performance with the least amount of work.
