Who wants to look for Bioluminescence? Hopefully the weather will calm down and with July's new moon it should be the perfect time to witness this amazing natural phenomenon caused by an algae bloom of plankton. We are so lucky to be one of the few places on earth this exists! If we find some, the water will glow when your paddle breaks through it! It's best to see during a new moon when the night is darkest. As such, please bring a small light, preferably red, so that other kayakers can tell where you are. (And bug spray for the pesky critters!) We'll meet at Kiwanis Island Park at the building near the entrance. There will probably be some kayak outfitters there, so look for our group. It will be a short paddle, generally about an hour total, but well worth it if we find bioluminescence!
