Pine Island - Sam's Creek to Indian River

Meet at 8am - Paddles WET at 8:30am. If you need more time then come earlier. Bring (and wear) PDF, whistle, and water.

Sam's Creek is a wide man made canal that parallels the Indian River Lagoon. Occasionally alligators are seen here along with Manatee and Dolphins. Great Egrets and many other bird species are often spotted along the banks which are comprised mainly of White, red, and black mangrove. After less than half a mile, Sam's Creek turns west toward the Indian River Lagoon. Unless the Winds are too much, we will turn into the wind and paddle along the shore (North or South) for about a mile or two depending on time and wind. Then return back to the landing.

Follow the signs for "Sam's Creek - Kayak Launch", making the final right turn near the end of the dirt road. This is the parking area and Launch.
