Bio Paddle

The Spacex launch has moved. However, this still promises to be an awesome night on the water. The Bioluminescence has been incredible this season! It should be the perfect time to witness this amazing natural phenomenon caused by an algae bloom of plankton. We are so lucky to be one of the few places on earth this exists! If we find some, the water will glow when your paddle breaks through it! It's best to see around a new moon when the night is darkest.

What to Bring: PFD (aka life jacket), whistle or other physical noise maker. PFD must be worn, or please stay home. Bug Spray recommended along with headlight with red mode. Use white mode if a power boat is approaching. 6” Green Glow stick or Green LED signal stick, worn on the top back of your PFD. These are available from Hardware stores and Amazon. Needs to be clearly visible from a football field away. Water bottle to stay hydrated.
· Assemble at 7:00PM
· Paddles wet @7:30PM
· Paddle until ~11:00PM.
Parking is limited.

Float Plan:
Meet at 7PM, Paddles wet at 7:30. Paddle ~1.75 miles north towards KARS Park. Loiter util Dark at 7:50 and paddle back towards Kelly Park and look for Bioluminescence..

These can be caused by slipping or falling off rocks due to loss of balance or lack of coordination; twisting ankles on rocks, brush, limbs; Acts of nature such as inclement weather, lightning, strong wind, extreme temperatures; drownings in rivers, streams, or other bodies of water; drinking unfiltered contaminated water or becoming dehydrated; succumbing to heat exhaustion; getting bit or stung by venomous reptiles, animals, or insects; and my own or other’s negligent or risky behaviors.
