DETAILS
Up until about 6 years ago, this was the most popular venue for Space Coast Hiking due to its close proximity to Brevard County, and it’s shaded, and serene beauty.

For this event, we will meet at 9 AM at James Bourbeau park next to the Lone Cabbage Fish Camp on State Road 520, which is next to the St. Johns River. From there, we will caravan about 2.5 miles west to the clandestine entrance to this preserve. Wait for me to open the gate to this preserve and we will file in. Don't forget to bring sunscreen, hydration, insect repellent, ppe, and snacks. This will be an out and back hike that will total 5 miles out to the Taylor Creek. We will take one long break at the picnic table out by the pathway to Taylor Creek, At this point, you can choose to take the scenic grassy road back to the parking lot, which will reduce your total hike to 4.4 miles, or double back with me.

This hike is another one of those beautiful hikes through tall Oaks, Pines, and cabbage palms, and other deciduous trees that we have enjoyed so much this season.
