Parenting in the "iPad Generation" means anticipating threats to kids’ safety before they access the Internet. This presentation fosters a conversation about navigating a digital landscape with children raised by technology and malicious individuals waiting to capitalize on that concept. As cybersecurity professionals, there is a running dialogue about threats and vulnerabilities relating to enterprise and business systems. The dangers parents need to be aware of relating to their children’s online safety can be summarized in a few key points: the people children are connecting with, exposure to unlimited information on the Internet, the prevalence of IoT devices, and widespread acceptance and normalization of AI use.

This talk will apply the principles valued in cybersecurity to the most vulnerable population, the youth—and how they are being targeted. Safety must be the center focus of the conversation, which begins with parental awareness and active participation in children’s online activities.
