Details

Introduction to the SPACE HACKATHON Startup Weekend MasterClass, offered by Dr Churchill @ the Museum of Flight in Seattle this Saturday...

Come to get acquainted with the organizers, and to get enrolled in this amazing SPACE HACKATHON that will take place later in the year with only a few dozen Space Hackers, at the University of Washington.

Let's come together to create more entrepreneurial Startups and hack some special Solutions for our Pioneering Space Exploration & Development Companies.

Come together to compete for one of the few spots available, and start working towards a Space Business, where we can solve some of the most persnickety problems that our Space Exploration and Development companies face everyday, and thus create new solutions.

Because we seek new solutions in all areas of Space Development. From the propulsion innovations, to the revolutionary Ion electric xenophobic drives, and on to "Climate Safe" space ship propulsion systems that do not place greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, to Spaceship environmental controls, to collecting the Space debris, to repositioning and refueling the fleet of satellites around the earth, and all the other wicked problems of Space industry that require a New Manner of Thinking for engineering solutions.

COME JOIN US FOR THIS AMAZING WORLD CHANGING HACKATHON THAT WE ORGANIZE WITH NASA, BECAUSE WE NOW SEEK TO AUGMENT OUR REACH THROUGH CROWDSOURCING THE SPACE INDUSTRY MAJOR PROBLEMS IN ORDER TO ARRIVE AT HUMANITY WIDE SOLUTIONS AND NOT EXCLUSIONARY PATCHES FOR OUR INEQUITY.

We welcome all disciplines, as they come together with us, in order to source imaginative and creative engineering solutions, for all the issues that arise out of building a new SpaceShip. This Saturday's introduction will lead to a Full Startup MasterClass Weekend, that is geared for all types of space imagineers, engineers, navigation specialists, orbital mechanics, technicians, citizen scientists, technical talents, SpaceShip Designers, Space architects, space travel enthusiasts, artists, coders, UI/UX designers, spaceship and aerospace or even naval architects, hardware engineers, electrical engineers, any any kind of hardware or software tinkerers.

But above all else we want Makers and Builders.

Experimenters, is what we call them.

Capice?

NASA SpaceApps challenge is to be included with the Weekend's proceedings...

To participate, simply RSVP and register your interest here, with your RSVP and with your attendance to other Space MeetUps, that can serve as preparatory and informational meetings so that we can get to know you, and you can get to know your colleagues.

We hold this event in the Museum of Space and Flight in Seattle, because Seattle is a known hub for Space & Flight and Aerospace engineering, as well as most other new & exciting technologies, including, among others, BioTech, Medicine, BioInformatics, Cloud computing, AI, Augmented Reality, Telecommunications, Virtual Reality, and of course all kinds of Space Tech.

So come join us a check out this hackathon that is focused on solving the ever growing challenges in safe space exploration, environmental atmospheric controls, upper atmosphere greenhouse gases remediation, orbital mechanics, satellite navigation, satellite communications, space exploration, space travel, etc.

The International Space Apps Challenge is an international mass collaboration focused on space exploration that takes place over 48-hours in cities around the world. The event embraces collaborative problem solving with a goal of producing relevant open-source solutions to address global needs applicable to both life on Earth and life in space. This year we have over 25 challenges in four areas: Earth, Outer Space, Humans and Robotics. NASA is leading this global collaboration along with a number of government collaborators and over 100 local organizing teams across the globe.

INTERNATIONAL
The exploration of space is, by necessity, a unified international effort - and diversity of experience and perspective inevitably produces a better product. We are very intentional to make the Space Apps Challenge valuable to and accessible to the international community, and the experience continues to teach us numerous lessons about how to make it more truly international.

SPACE APPS
The Challenge exemplifies the principles of transparency, participation and collaboration by utilizing openly available data, supplied through NASA missions and technology, and the talent and skill of passionate volunteers from around the planet to advance space exploration and improve the quality of life on Earth.

CHALLENGE
The idea of a Challenge is so compelling because it acknowledges the fact that the world is facing serious challenges - and that we all have to work together to approach them. While there local hosts may offer prizes and the global award includes an opportunity to attend a NASA launch, the main challenge we focus on is enabling 48 hours of highly engaged collaboration- and discovering what we can create when that happens.

Who should attend?

We invite all aspiring Space entrepreneurs to join us for an extended weekend in Cologne where you will create a startup in just 60 hours. Whether you are a student, graduate, or young professional or want a change of career direction, Space Hackers Weekend is for you!

What will I do?

During the Space Hackers Weekend, you will learn about each of the sectors of space, automotive and logistics, and identify challenges in each of those sectors. You will learn how to apply the design thinking process to innovate real-life problems and generate multiple ideas in a constructive way. Resources will be made available for you to build your own prototype to be able to test and validate with potential customers.

But I am not a space engineer or scientist.

I have no background in business.

How can I contribute?

You don’t have to be a space engineer, scientist or business expert. Innovation is not possible without influence from a mix of expertise and successful innovation requires input across disciplines. Mentors will be available to support you with their expertise in academia, business, marketing, technology and law, among others. You will have guidance in how to construct your own business model. Just bring your pen, paper and an open mind.

What do automotive and logistics have to do with space?

Space Hackers promote tech transfer between space and other industries (spin-off, spin-in). We decided for the first event to link space with automotive and logistics, which are two cluster sectors in the Pacific Northwest region. From space launchers, aerospace giants, satellite companies, autonomous vehicles, delivery drones, to logistical hubs, and the most complex centers of transportation of goods, satellite navigation, and all the satellite tools that enable global communication and the global tracking and earth observation of the logistical chain -- it all gives us a clear picture of what is happening from above.

Tours:

We are organising tours to facilities relating to space launches, aerospace companies, automation, and logistics.

Food & Drinks

Food and drinks will be provided throughout the event. Kickstart your day with a tasty breakfast and coffee, enjoy a delicious lunch and end the day with a hearty dinner – all to help power you through an intensive weekend of activities.

Accommodation

This is a BootCamp so we are looking to invite all of you to bring your tents and your sleeping bangs, so that we can camp in the areas around the Museum, and we are looking for that permission for all of the participants. In the meantime, please check Booking.com (https://www.booking.com/) or Airbnb.com (https://www.airbnb.com/) for nearby hotels, motels, hostels, and all other types of accommodations available in the area.

It will be a great experience...

But why haven't you heard about this before...

Because Space Hackers Weekend is the first event of its kind in the Pacific Northwest. It takes its influences from Startup Weekend and integrates design thinking and other processes to enable creative innovation.

Space Business Development, is a vibrant and high-growth sector and is an essential part of the global economy. In recent years, many “new space” startups have emerged as companies, increasing the commercialization of the sector. “New space” or “Space 4.0” or the New Frontiers, and the New Age of Space, is fast becoming the New Tech Reality here in Seattle, and in the Pacific Northwest.

And we want to invite you, to become a strong part of it.

About Space Hackers

Space Hackers is an initiative of the Dr Churchill's Space Innovation VC Management and we aim to provide incentives for innovation and the transfer of knowledge and expertise as well as resources and finance, between Space Tech, and all other New Tech in our World Innovation of New technologies and application areas through new methodological approaches, is what Space Development is all about.

We are not only scientifically, economically, and politically motivated, but we are also motivated by the gnawing need of the Human species to reach for the skies. We are keen to explore beyond the gravitational boundaries and the self imposed barriers. In fact we are simply seeking to expand the frontiers of the Cosmos and the Universe.

The international Space Hackers Society calls for less governmental regulations and for more private sector involvement and new business models of Public Private Partnerships, and Political Innovation to be allowed to pioneer the great steps we need to take in the direction of Space Exploration & Development.

Cheers
